I left home at 5am,  never seeing him. Jogged 3 miles that morning at the office gym. He encouraged me that I’d reach my weekly goal.

Sitting in the office just after lunch, I had a visitor. Odd, I thought, but oh well.

Standing at the security desk was my son and a detective. We walked to a small office in the back.

There’d beed an accident. A single vehicle. My husband didn’t survive.

My world – turned upside down, backwards, inside out and just fucked.

I pulled my mattress off the bed. Dragged to the livingroom and slept there…for three days.

Planning a funeral 3 days before Thanksgiving. Trying to find my thankful.

My faith, son, inlaws. They are my thankful. Without them,  my tragedy would have overtaken me. Consumed my world.

This Thanksgiving, find your thankful.
