In the shadows

Standing in the shadows is something she was all too familiar

In her own shadow she saw who she wanted to be but somehow she was not

The shadow of the older, prettier sister

In the shadow of his favorite hobby

The dark, cold, lonely shadow of the taller, better-figured women

All too familiar being put in second, third, last place

Even when the sun hid behind the cloud, she was still in someone else’s shadow

Hidden in the shadows she knew she was not what others perceived her to be

She knew she was more important, more special, more friendly and talented than others gave her credit

In her darkest shadow, although, she saw something others not willing to see

Her future
