What do you want?

I recently read two articles – one which supports marrying young, the other calling off an engagement. Both share the need for individual growth. While marrying young, you allow yourself to grow as an individual but with someone. Calling off the engagement? well.. that is realizing sooner than later that you still have things you feel like you need to accomplish. You need to grow spiritually – figure out who you are and who you want to be before you let someone else make those decisions. As I ponder my own relationship, is it too late to discover you and your partner are on two different roads? And when you figure that out, is it really too late or can those two roads merge? In any situation, whether you choose to stay in a relationship for someone else or leave to find yourself, there will be heartache. Someone will be hurt. My favorite movie, “The Notebook” sums it all up. In one of the final scenes, Noah says to Ali, “What do you want? Stop trying to figure out what everyone else wants. What do YOU want?”
